Well Water Softener in Pelion, SC

Well Water Softener in Pelion, SC

A softener on a well does more work than one on city water. Well water often carries iron and manganese along with calcium and magnesium, and each one uses up resin capacity. Pelion, SC Well Water Treatment sets up well water softeners in Pelion, SC as part of a full well water treatment plan, not as a stand-alone box.

We size the unit by compensated hardness. That means adding about 3 to 5 grains for every 1 mg/L of iron to your measured hardness, then multiplying by daily water use. A family of four using 75 gallons per person a day with 20 grains of compensated hardness needs about 6,000 grains of capacity per day. We pick a tank and regeneration setting from that.

Well-specific points we check:

• Whether an iron filter should go before the softener
• Fine mesh resin for better iron handling
• Backwash flow your pump can actually deliver
• Brine line and drain air gap to code

If your well has bacteria, a softener will not fix it. UV or chlorination comes first.
